Training Program
Members complete foundational certification and maintain ongoing training through monthly field exercises, annual recertification, and multi-agency exercises.
ICS / NIMS Fundamentals
SAR team members receive orientation to and operate within the Incident Command System (ICS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) used to manage emergency incidents. SAR responders operate accordance to the principles of the ICS / NIMS system.
Land Navigation
Map, compass, and GPS navigation in varied terrain and low-visibility conditions.
Wilderness First Aid
All responders are trained in Basic First Aid and CPR. Wilderness First Aid and higher-level wilderness medical certifications may be held by individual members and are encouraged throughout the organization.
Search Management
Probability of detection, hasty search tactics, and systematic grid searching.
Night Operations
Low-light navigation, signaling, and fatigue management during extended operations.
Specialty Disciplines
Wilderness rescue and Wilderness First Aid available to qualified volunteers.
